Move about a hundred indexterms so that they fall within inline blocks such as para, also put them in term elements of varlists rather than the listitem element. This vodoo seems to improve rendering to PDF, as the DocBook XSL stylesheets (or maybe FOP) otherwise adds extra vertical space where the indexterm is, as if it was its own para block

Their names are now path_get_dirname and path_get_basename.; Give a fatal error in printdatafilepaths if memory can't be allocated, rather than returning silently.
