stdnse.print_debug accepts a format string and arguments, making
string.format redundant in calls of this form:
stdnse.print_debug(1, string.format("%s: error", SCRIPT_NAME))
stdnse.print_debug(("length %d"):format(#tab))
These can be rewritten as:
stdnse.print_debug(1, "%s: error", SCRIPT_NAME)
stdnse.print_debug("length %d", #tab)
In the case of a few of these scripts the only thing that was updated was the example text as the scripts relied on the creds library which handles the strings internally.
socket:connect(host.ip, port.number)
socket:connect(host.ip, port.number, port.protocol)
to this:
socket:connect(host, port)
connect can take host and port tables now, and the default protocol is
taken from the port table if possible.
o Add two new Script scan phases:
Script Pre-scanning phase: before any Nmap scan operation, activated by the new "prerule".
Script Post-scanning phase: after all Nmap scan operations, activated by the new "postrule".
o New environment variables:
SCRIPT_PATH
SCRIPT_NAME
SCRIPT_TYPE: the type of the rule that activated the script.
